How to Make Whipped Coffee at Home

Okay, if there is one major thing to come out of quarantine, it HAS to be whipped coffee. Everywhere I turn someone is making a TikTok or an Instagram story of them whipping up some whipped coffee and I decided to try it for myself. I mean, what else am I going to do? I went in with an open mind and WOW am I glad I did. It honestly has to be the best iced coffee I've ever made at home, so I want to share! Follow along to make the perfect cup of joe- with a twist.


You're going to need a few things ingredient-wise and utensil-wise: instant coffee, sugar, hot water, a bowl, a glass, and a mixer. You can do this without a mixer by just using a whisk, however your hand might just about fall off as it takes almost twice as long with twice the amount of work. Once you have all of the tools and ingredients you're ready to start making your coffee.


Using your bowl, add the instant coffee, sugar, and hot water together. Then grab your mixer and start mixing. This process takes a few minutes so bare with it all! You'll start to notice that the mixture will thicken the more that you mix it. Once you're done, the mixture should be a light golden brown color rather than the dark brown, almost black color that it was when you first started. It should also be incredibly thick- like, turn-the-blizzard-at-Dairy-Queen-upside-down-and-nothing-even-moves thick.


Now grab your glass or coffee mug and fill it with ice. Add the milk of your choice to the glass but leave enough room for the coffee on top. I like to use vanilla oatmilk because it flavors my coffee without needing actual syrup, and I'm trying to wean myself off of cow milk. Grab a spatula and scoop that whipped coffee into your glass. The mixture should still be thick enough to sit on top of the milk and ice rather than melting through. Once you have all of your coffee in your glass, grab a straw or a spoon and mix it all together. It is so satisfying!


Now grab your glass or coffee mug and fill it with ice. Add the milk of your choice to the glass but leave enough room for the coffee on top.
